Conference in a gymnasium

I spent a while hanging large amounts of old black canvas masking flats (for reasons of cost) suspended as required by an acoustic consultant for a Graham Vick opera in an old nightclub with similar problems.

The acoustician specified a number of panels, suspended at an angle (from memory, 8 degrees off vertical) though this was as a result of his survey thing he did with a Disto and software that mapped the space in 3D. And yes, we did measure they were all more or less 8 degrees....

This was for a modern opera with orchestra. The flats were each probably 6m x 1.5m, in two runs of about 6 flats (10m apart and parallel to each other) on either side of a curved seating plan.

Despite my usual rigger's cynicism, it apparently worked a treat - happy musos.
