Crud, basically!

To my left, in tray, out tray, and 4 shake it all about trays.

Under them is the pat tester, which is holding down my To Do pile of things. Then there is a speaker, screen, mouse, battery charger, car keys, hole punch, desk tidy (empty!) one of those boards to look at while typing, and a qwick connection block for things without plugs. Then on a raised shelf to my right is the other speaker, two knackered mobile phones awaiting recycling, and my file of precut gels. Under that, I have no idea, I suppose I better look at that rather than spend time writing about it!

On drawers is a scanner and the keyboard. Under that is my collection of PAT nasties to show new clients, (plug with front broken for "easy replacement of fuse" anybody?)

Somewhere there is my clapped out computer, and a snakes party behind that. To my sides is some new kit, being burnt in!

My desk is also a mess (despite my assertion that every good stage manager has a touch of OCD, mine doesn't extend to tidying my desk!)...right now, on it (actually, them - it's two desks pushed together) there is:

- Prompt script (in a lever arch file, also including much other show information)

- Sound Cue System monitor, keyboard and mouse (the CPU is under the desk!)

- Yamaha powered mixing desk

- CD player

- Metal pencil case containing several mechanical pencils, Sharpies of different colours and sizes, a rubber, a green highlighter and a few ordinary pencils

- Lots of stage management stationary-like items: holepunch, stapler, tape dispenser, one of those pencil sharpeners where you stick the pencil in it and wind the handle, an ordinary pencil sharpener, glue stick, blu-tack, paper clips, bulldog clips....

- My blue triangular metal ruler from Smiggle (I have a slight stationary obsession and don't dare go into this shop for fear of spending ALL my money)

- A4 sized blue multi-pocket pencil case which contains useful things like a mouse mat, USB hub (shaped like a turtle...), painkillers, throat lozenges, more spare pens and pencils

- Rehearsal schedule (taped to the desk)

- Laptop, sitting on one volume of the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, because it's lost its little rubber feet and so you have to sit it half on, half off something so the air vent can get cool air in

- Scale ruler

- Mark-up box (knife, spike tape, electrical tape, several tape measures, chalk, string, drawing pins)

- Costume drawings

- 1:25 set plan

- 1GB USB memory stick on a Whitelight lanyard

- Several copies of a German accent CD

- Camelbak drinkbottle

- Pages of notes taken by the director (his chair sits on one side of the desk)

- Chessboard with a complete set of pieces on it, waiting for me to Blu-tack the pieces down

- A hunting crop (a prop left there by one of the cast)

- Two different versions of the script, both of which are now out of date

- A pot of yellow daisies (given to me by the writer) which have been there for three weeks - amazingly I haven't killed them yet!

E2A: I forgot a few things:

- Bottle of a Hawke's Bay sauvignon blanc

- Tub of Blistex lip balm

- Several hair ties

- Foot-long piece of sash cord currently tied into a monkey's fist knot
