Depends which desk..

My workshop bench at work will have the computer, soldering station and various pcb cleaners, a lamp etc and whatever junk people have used and just dumped there while I´m out at a gig..

Currently sat at my (opp) desk for valencia fashion week.. got a 01v96, 2 ew500 2 pc´s, "bunch o" eq and DA and some dj cds and mixer.. not too nasty a job now the earth loop problems have been solved.

desk at home on the other hand...

load of papers.. a half stripped down rc helicopter, baby toys and lots and lots of "gubbins"

Desk? I aspire to a desk! I currently have a half sheet of 12mm ply balanced between a small bookcase and a batten on the wall. Lots of USB cables, a fancy Sweex keyboard that I can't find the proper drivers for, lots of scraps of paper, and some CPC fliers. Several leftover screw from dead PCs and a broken gyroscope from a WWI torpedo.

I HAVE ordered a proper desk... I can't wait, the excitement is killing.

Addendum - Dead HDD, set of polyominoes, digital calipers, broken (toy) caribeener, Mythbusters DVD, 2 pairs of XLR4, gold and silver glitter pens, two 10g masses, USB microscope, tape measure, circuit diagrams for a battery charger and Maltese Cross demonstration, assorted large ball bearings.

Rather depressingly, almost everything that's currently on my day-job desk is a variation on what was there in my previous post some 5 years ago!

On the store workbench though is...

1 x Minim F conglomeration of bits (An almost complete set of spares!)

1 x Minim23 in need of a new cable gland, prior to flogging on

1 x Toolbox, full The exact contents of which are often a mystery

1 x Rather unusual 160W ballast-free tungsten/mercury combination UV lamp with an ES base

1 x Bright orange small ammo box

1 x Mamod steam traction engine (Fully working having had new boiler seals fitted!)

Lots x Miscellaneous nuts/bolts/screws

Lots x Gel off cuts

Bryson: what a tidy desk and what a very nice looking office!

Anyway, my very untidy desk currently contains (in no particular order):

Last year's diary and this year's diary (soon to be joined by next year's diary)

Some blank CDRs

Laptop

A selection of cpc mini-catalogues (with varying end dates)

A blown Mac 600 lamp

2 radio-mic pouches

Used ink cartridges waiting to be recycled

Exploded diagram for new projector cradle (waiting to be filed)

Set of headphones (minus padding for the ears)

2 boxes of 13A plugs (I ordered 2 x 10 13A fuses and got these instead so I'm not complaining!)

1 x metal 13A socket with patress

1 x single patress without 13A socket (or any other socket for that matter!)

Yamaha sustain pedal for electric piano (left behind for so long that I think it's mine now!)

Selection of accident reports waiting to be filed

Box of LED net lights (possible empty, I should probably check!)

2 phones (internal and external)

4" Hortus speaker that needs replacing, but they don't make them any more

3 tent pegs

16 x 230w houselight lamps that don't work because our fittings only work with Osram (which I oredered) and not with Casell (which they sent): there were 20 but the other 4 were tried out, 2 lasting 2 days the other 2 lasted 1 day

This season's brochure, plus the brochures of the previous 3 seasons

Some IEC fittings

Forms to say that one of our technicians is leaving us (in order to fit flourescent tubes in lifts - how exciting)

A multimeter (mine to be precise)

An M10 nut and bolt

On my walls there are:

CCTV monitor

A device that is meausing if the crack in the wall is getting bigger, which might suggest it was intending to fall down (it seems it's not so far)

Some notices to put on doors etc. (e.g. 'Quiet please, show in progress')

Layouts of different seating/staging in the studio: End stage (110 seats); Cabaret style (148); thrust - stage narrow end (105); thrust - stage wide end (139); in-the-round (150)

A print of an artwork that once hung in the gallery (it's hideous but was a gift from the artist so it's behind my chair so I can't see it)

Latest rota

Evacuation procedures

Tech specs

Catering menu

Certificate of Excellence (for the most amount of fairy lights in any production ever and the best star-in-a-box ever - from a production of Sleeping Beauty)

The motto: 'Don't miss the doughnut by looking through the hole'

Bryson: what a tidy desk and what a very nice looking office!

I think it's just my OCD showing....

Anyway, the office is very nice, and a vast improvement over my previous office which was, quite literally, in the Toilet Paper Storage Cupboard. It was even labelled as such on the original plans of the building.

Indeed, my current office is labelled as 'Ladies Toilets' on the original plans.
