thanks for that rob I had been looking at a rcf system I was also looking at the jbl mrx range

selling the amps on is on my mind and replacing them wen I get the new system

what are peoples thoughts on the jbm mrx range ??

It looks pretty good on a spec sheet, and from what I know of JBL it sits somwhere inbetween the MPro kit, which is aimed at your semi-pro DJ level/ interested band types, and the SRX which is serviceable low level pro. Cant say I've ever heard any though, theyre pretty new- as with all things new (especially above buget level) its hard to find anyone whos got any, except for demo. Try speaking to a decent dealer, they might be able to swing a demo for you and by decent I mean not looking to have you walk away with JRX boxes because its the only one they know.

As per my comment re your amplifiers, I think what I was getting at was that the way forward, if you've a little money in your pocket, is active. Reason being, all roughly pro level active kit I've seen is monstrously efficient, and usually contains half of a driverack pre configured, and are normally biamped with active crossovers etc all inside the cab. Imagine if loading out didnt feature that box of Macrotechs. JBL dont do any active kit below the VP kit (except the EON, less said the better), and thats hugely expensive, like 2 grand a box.

Perhaps worth pointing out that I'm not an affiliate or employee of RCF (yes, you see the logo), but I do keep on harping on about them. I heard the RCF TT 12" boxes with 18" subs under them, and they're probably the ultimate in portable DJ boxes for pub/ club type venues. Then theres a 15" top box which perhaps doesnt keep the clarity at volume of its smaller brother, but at 1500W a cab and 137db output, for like 35kg each, who cares?! They'd make a reasonable addition to the technician Porn thread. Expensive, but I reckon worth it.

Hi Guys,

For what it is worth, I have been a long term user of RCF and then they just dropped off the planet, glad to see them back now.

I work for a rental company and we had a demo of the TT+ boxes a few weeks ago and well they really kick.

The RCF guy came down with the 22/25 single & double 18" subs, the 22's are so clear and crisp, the 25's where just as good, then linked up with the subs the sound is huge from such a small footprint, especially the TT25/TTS28 combination.

The guy from RCF had a slight grin on his face playing one track and when the sub kicked in we all got punched in the chest. Rob I agree with you these are great cabs and very cost effective for a rental company. We are hopefully going to try and use the line array on a gig in the new year which should be good will let you know.

Looking through the RCF brochure they also have a system called 4PRO which also look like it can kick and thats a bit cheaper so worth a look.

It seems that RCF are back doing what they do best making great sounding big sound cabs that most can afford, we still use the old RCF Event 6000 with 18" subs and they still kick but these new cabs are so much smaller and create such a big clear sound.
