Power Conditioners and RCDs

Good power conditioners will have what are known as Class-Y filter capacitors between live, neutral and earth, introducing natural leakage into the earth conductor (and designed to bypass RF interference safely away). An RCD must not trip at less than half its rated trip current, I suppose a couple of conditioners may push it over the edge especially if they're commercially rated conditioners rather than for home use...and remembering that much pro audio equipment already has its own internal filters etc which are also naturally leaky! Many industrial installations will not have RCDs on their mains outlets partially for this reason. Are the conditioners specifically designed to be plugged into a 13A socket, or have they subsequently been adapted?

Providing a non-RCD protected 13A outlet may contravene the regulations in a home environment depending on your earthing arrangements proveded by the electricity company, a qualified electrician can inspect your installation and advise accordingly.
