Pete Alcock Posted December 8, 2007 Share Posted December 8, 2007 I tried one of these a while ago and whilst it was alive it worked very well, as everyone else has confirmed. The eventual failure mode was where the cable entered the moulding at the back of the headband. It's obvious that it's a weak point - where a flexible cable enters a hard plastic component with no strain relief. My suggestion to manufacturers would be to mould that part in a much softer compound, and with a graduated thickness, such that some progressive flexing is permitted - in effect to give some strain relief. I am keen to ensure the factory we use improves the design where possible. The mics are cheaper than some alternatives... this doesnt mean they shoudl fail early tho!
