Nice diagrams!

 

I had a nightmare with this roof.

I had a hard time convincing boss that horizontal connection at the bottom of the rounded roof should be necessary. His argument was that the spheric structure is the strongest, and that all forces go vertically down. At the end he agreed that I should put fiber strap to connect two ends. But that did not make me feel good at all, since fiber strapes WLL was 1000 kg. you can see them here:

I would not say I'm an expert either, but book example is excellent.

the truss was... ...under its safe maximum load. ...it failed because some of the truss pins were missing and someone had lent a ladder again one of the bits of truss and was overreaching....

 

eric - the guy on the ladder is still in hospital and is stable and we wish him a good recovery

However... missing pins? SWL being exceeded due to some missing pins and the weight of one guy?
