Guest lightnix
Wow - first it was Colour Kinetics (for $691m IIRC); now this :) Philips are on a roll for sure at the moment.
Richard Bunting
So Strand ownership is now ultimately in the hands of the Dutch. Having just listened to all the webcasts from both Genlyte and Philips, entertainment lighting was mentioned just once, and that only in passing. Philips did not buy Genlyte for its entertainment lighting, but for its commercial lighting, and so I would not be surprised to see ET, Vari*lite and Strand being offered as a package to any potential bidders within the next 12 months. Who would they be? Other than various manufacturers within the US, there aren't many obvious choices. Perhaps the Chinese? (Lightsky Barry ?) They knock off these products already, so why not buy the brand to go along with it!I wouldn't like to be in Dallas or LA just at the moment.
