jimbo7744
Yes, for ships that do regular runs, things are usually sent to your 'Home' port, where you return on a regular basis, I.e every week, every 2 weeks, for longer cruise's I couldn't answer. You will most likely have to go ashore to the terminal to collect it as customs maybe interested in your fellow crew members packages.
zonino
Yes, usually there is a facility available. edit: oops, 2 pages! I do know that all my post however came onto the ship directly, I didn't have to go and collect it from the shore (both were USA ports)
jimbo7744
For me postcards and letters were x-rayed then brought onboard, anything bigger was held at the terminal with the grumpy customs and immigration officers. Yes Sir, Yes! Where the hells my I95!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhh! ** laughs out loud **.
pisquee
For normal cruising season mail was sent to our offices in Southampton, and office staff would bring it over when they came for meetings etc. When in the Caribbean, we'd normally turnaround in Barbados, so people had to send us mail at the Barbados port agent (for whom we'd being given the addess details on a sheet of paper, along with all the other port agents, so mail could pretty much be sent to any port if the sender had the port agent's address, and timed the delivery right.) The port agent would then bring the mail onboard, or give it to ship staff to bring onboard, either way it ended up in the entertainments office for collection.
