Data or Video projector?

This reminds me of something I went to see at the Haywood Gallery in November 2004, but can't recall what it was called. I can't find the programme either. It was an optical illusions exhibition, which may or may not have contained work by Mccall, with a camera obscura on the roof.

One of the last exhibits was a darkened room full of haze, which from memory had a rotating shaft of light which got faster until it formed a cone. From this point, the cone became larger and smaller until it slowed down and stopped. Viewers were able to stand in the cone and look into the projector. The projector was contained in a perspex box and was a film projector. Sadly, I do not remember what size film it used.

It sounds to me like this is the sort of thing you wish to do. Perhaps an old film projector might be easier to use!
