sparkyweb
Just to clarify and avoid any confusion, KAVE like any other hire company WILL arrange replacement units in the event of a failure of their own hired units. However in this instance the lanterns are the OP's own and I believe the unit in question will be looked at in the next few days.
KevinE
If the mains filter is ok its likely the lamp cables chafed where they pass from the base to the head.
johnhuson
Just a point for info following on from ceecrb1s comments, most MAC 500s I've come across in this country are magnetic ballast versions so will not have a ballast circuit as descirbed by ceecrb1. There are however electronic ballast versions knocking about. All MAC 2000s have electronic ballasts as standard.

maeterlinck
If it is an electronic Mac then it will have an 'E' after its model number, i.e. Martin Mac 500E. Unless it is an electronic as standard fixture then it won't. i.e. Mac 2000, Mac 700.This is in addition to in weighing considerably less!
