Hiya. We were having a sort out in an amateur theatre where I help out and found six of those barndoors! Now, as it happens, there are six Concord 500w floods (display type) as houselights so, without climbing up a ladder to check, I would guess we have a match. Also I understand a refurb was done in the 80s so, hopefully, an ID for you. :) Regards, Gaz.

...

Also found in the lighting cupboard today:

Strand LBX lighting board - works! - info

Zero88 Lightmaster XLS - haven't been able to find the power pack yet! - info

Strand Quartzolor Castor (2kw) - works! - info

...

You found a Strand Castor 2K in a cupboard...?! How big is your cupboard!

About 8ft by 8ft!

And gaz, if you could find out if those are the lights that would be great, but dont worry about getting out the ladders if its alot of effort! - and if you need anymore barndoors for them we have a fair few stacked up!

New find this morning on the shelves at the back...to -10v to +10v converters for pulsar desks to strand dimmers (or at least thats what it says on it!) - I have yet to find the pulsar desk...or the strand dimmers!

Ok, as my tidy up continues into the store boxes, ive found a few odd little pieces that again I dont know what the heck they are - these will probably end up in the bin, but im intrigued!

Firstly, this looks like a large lens to something, a screw fitting at the top, and the clear piece in the middle is maybe 1/3rd inch thick in the centre...quite odd!

Second one here is a strange little adapter for something

And the third one is possibly the strangest plug I've ever seen!

Finally, what I had believed before to be a strand quartzcolor castor fresnel, actually doesnt say strand on it anywhere. I just got the strand from a google search of the rest of the name. Heres what the backplate says, am I right to still think its a strand or is it a cheap imitation?

Thanks for all your help, chance are these and other items will be appearing in the "for sale" section before to long, or ebay!

Anyway, enough of a break, back to clearing out the cupboard!

It's made by Quartzcolor of Italy. In years gone by, Quartzcolor and Strand used to have a pretty close alliance, in that Strand sold their studio and location lighting equipment into the UK.

well thats nice to know...I didnt want to go about shouting one thing when I hadnt!

Nothing strange about these.

They were quite common for stage lighting when I was young, mind you that is now quite a few years ago. :)

Oh dear, dating myself now! I've come across these plugs in theatres back in the late 60s early 70s (Sorry to date you too Gerry!). The sockets are the same shape as the plugs but with holes instead of pins .... doh! We used to call 'em "three in lines" don't know if thats correct name though. Cheers, Gaz.

What a fun thread this is...!

The top pic (the lens) looks like it could be a lens from a follow spot. The teflon-coated ring on the right would run on a rod, probably on the base of the unit, and the screw fitting probably held a handle that would stick out of the side of the unit. I'm thinking possibly something like a Pani:

(from this page.)

The second picture.... I thought maybe a speaker lead adapter as that's the most likely thing to use banana plugs, but then there's the white one... hmmm. Don't know. Possibly a test lead for some sound kit?
