A fair bit of time - there was also a load of washes, some extra specials and all the sidelights to do, so we were at it all afternoon.

Andy is actually working on a video of the show - basically each of those came on in sequence - the music was Kraftwerk, with me counting bars (I'm not musical!) for each cue. If it's finished soon and the choreographer doesn't mind, I'll YouTube it.

Putting It Together 21st April 07 @The Little Theatre Torquay

My first real go at lighting a show here.

Rig:

Desk: 520i

All Generics apart from 4 scrollers (one of which died 5 mins before house opened-thank god for automod!)

4 Strings of fary lights.

No haze machine was used but a desk fan infront of a zr33 on minimal output seemed to do the job for the night.

Any thoughts and/or tips?

Steve.

When I put in the Today I Shall Be.. thread that I was dressing buisnessmen as rock stars I was asked for pictures so you can see some HERE. They were taken by the press photographers but they still give a flavour of the event.

Before you take the piss out of the people performing you should know that they are wealthy/seriousley wealthy people in the property world who are prepared to do this to raise large amounts of money (about £100,000 we think this year) for charity.

The winner of the evening, for which you get a gold statuette and the glory, was the man dressed as Rocky and singing Eye Of The Tiger.

These are some pics I took from sidestage during my school's recent performance of Urinetown: The Musical, at Melbourne's Athenaeum Theatre. I was doing radio mics, and so had a few moments to grab these, using my 27 year old Canon AL-1 and a 50mm 1:1.8 lens. 400 speed film as well, handheld.

If you'll also permit the gratuitous inclusion of a fouth image, this is one from get-in, while we were rigging the flies and plotting some washes. We still hadn't uncovered the front rows in the stalls at that point.

4th Image!

It was a good show - and the musical itself is hilarious...

Readers will be entranced to see my new Early Learning Centre Lighting Control System. Designed in conjunction with fellow BR member Ben Suffolk, this desk was originally designed for the under-5s. Recent research, however, has shown that these can be deployed for those tricky late night gig situations when Mr. Punter might be less than interested in the lighting.....or one just can't be bothered

Operating instructions:

1. Set as many LED Pars as you like to DMX 001

2. Press (or bang with head*) for red light

3. Repeat process for green and or red light

*Optional "Bang Head Here" stickers available.

This system will be deployed in my tent at Glastonbury this year. I'll be happy to demo the system. I'll be in the grumpy old git field. You should be able to find my tent:

Thanks to Paul J Need for the PA and engineering it with a VERY large Midas; Jon Pierce for dealing with the bands, backline and lifting heavy weights; my daughter Rosa for operating the Pearl
