Jamtastic3
Jonny, liking the first clip. I liked how it looked like LED panels the dancers were passing in front of, but was probably CP Alpha's.Also the dancers forming the 007 and the gun was pretty cool. But how did they manage to rig that car?
Jonny DMX
All fixtures that required control: 46 Arri Event 575W Daylight with DMX control30 Dimmer shutters for Power Par daylight13 VL3500 Wash17 VL3000 Spot18 VL3500 Spot4 Alpha Beam 3009 Atomic Stobe 1 MA Lite1 MA lighting NSP In addition to the standard Motor show lighting required for the stand. (around 1000 fixtures in total) The car was rigged using very strong rubber to LED panel super glue! No really it was a whopping great big cantilever which attached to the underside of the car. The whole LED wall (about a tonne) and car unit was on a 2.5m cantilever. All show elements and BP screens were struck after each show to leave a clean blue wall. The show requires 2 SMs, and 3 stage crew. Also if things were not complicated enough, behind the LED wall was a VIP bar so it is not possible to fly lights in and out to make room for the car to drive out. jolly_camper123
Hi all. A couple of photos of Imperial College (London, UK) School of Medicine Light Opera Society's production of 'Guys and Dolls', which we did in December '08. The show takes place in what is normally a University sports hall, so the backstage guys have 4 days to build the stage from scratch, including wings and scenery. I as the tech director then have 24 hours to do the entire light rig including focusing and plotting, ready for the rehearsals to start the day after. The rig is a combination of kit we own and stuff we hire from Stage LX and Point Source Productions. We are limited in the generics by the power available in the hall; this year we used:12 Source 4s with Chroma Scrollers for stage colour wash12 Cantata Fresnels for general washFloods to wash scenery flats and the cycA few more Source 4s with gobos to produce stars on the cyc and with a rotating gobo holder to give a fan effect in the sewer scene2 Mac600s2 Mac700sData 2 Smoke machine to create a 'Stars in their eyes' effect when the doors of the Hot Box openedLook Solutions Unique hazerControlled with Dig6 dimmers and Zero88 Fat Frog deskWe hit a new record this year with over 2km of cable put in for the week Sound:8 Sennheiser radio micsNumerous cable mics to cover the stage and full orchestraEv Sx 300 and Sb120 speakersYamaha AmpsControl with a Yamaha LS9-32 We had amazing feedback and sell out audiences every night, but I'll leave you to judge the finished effect! Bear in mind, there was no professional input in any aspect of the event. Everything from tech and backstage through to costume and choreography was done by students in their spare time, whilst studing full time to become Doctors. http://i644.photobucket.com/albums/uu162/will_ibbotson/GuysandDolls3.jpgAct 1: 'Oldest Established' A chorus number with a number of soloists wearing radio mics. Set in a day time New York-style scene http://i644.photobucket.com/albums/uu162/will_ibbotson/GuysandDolls1.jpgAct 1/2: 'The Hot Box' A dancing club in New York. The pink flat in the background is part of a rotating stage that allowed the next scene to be prepared whilst one was going on. There are doors built into this scene that could be opened, allowing the dancers onto the stage in a cloud of smoke a-la 'Stars in their eyes' http://i644.photobucket.com/albums/uu162/will_ibbotson/GuysandDolls2.jpgAct 2: The sewer scene. This is a dance just before the famous song 'Luck be a Lady' The Mac600s are washing the flat in blue, whilst the Mac700s were used to provide a moving water wash effect across the whole stage. The rotating fan effect can also be seen in white in centre stage Hope you guys like it; not quite sure what we will be doing next, but there may well be photos! ceecrb1
This time its a video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PM6w-u7iwIM The MTV winter Valencia concert.Just given it a quick edit.... I had a relatively small part to play with just 6 8k space cannons and some technical translating but it was a really great job with a nice turnout of all the well known local crew... due to lower than usual work-load I ended up getting my hands dirty in most areas, helping out other crews as they needed it... better than doing nothing! Some jobs are long, tiring and make us question our career choice... Some are a pleasure to work on, this was one of these!

the kid
From our "One Night Only" (music event) The photos do look WAY better than the actual live out come, mainly because I had almost 0 time to re rig and programme. As well as students who lack timing. I do also have some pics from dance and Don Juan returns from the war. But I can't get those until next week. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3418/3351767643_fe8962d8b6_m.jpghttp://farm4.static.flickr.com/3559/3352255462_148a4feaa3_m.jpghttp://farm4.static.flickr.com/3464/3351479819_ac79b3a64b_m.jpg More here.
