quadrant
Hello all, Can anyone point me in the direction of a wall mounted decibel meter ?. Preferably with a large easy to read display so that the bar manager knows when to shout at the Dj !!. Thanks. Kevin
Simon Lewis
Hi, Kevin, There are devices that can indicate when the sound pressure level is above a preset maximum (see formula sound etc.) and devices that will provide long term logging and monitoring. The cost can be quite high for the latter. Would something like this suit you? What kind of budget (adjusted to sterling) do you have to work with? tolley1466
The formula sound system is good but if you just want a meter that just does that it's probably not right for you.

Kevin a quick google came up with Sound Level Alert with Alarm Built-in LEDs alert user when sound level is too high or too low Bright LEDs (red flashing or green) alert user when sound level is too high or too low - LEDs can be read from 30m (100ft)Continuous Monitoring of Sound Level Wall, desk or tripod mount with optional 15ft (5m) microphone extension cable for remote monitoringUser settable high or low limit (30 to 130dB) with output to drive external relay moduleMeets ANSI Type 2 and EN 60651 accuracy specs - compliant to OSHA http://www.burntechshop.com/extech-sl130-c...oise-p-174.html which as well as being wall-mountable and mains powered it also records the maxmium level, so he can see what has happened in his absence
MarkPAman
a quick google came up withhttp://www.burntechshop.com/extech-sl130-c...oise-p-174.html Ha I go all the way across the college to look at the model number of the one in our repographics room, and when I get back you've posted a link to it! :) :P Anyway, I borrowed it a few months ago to see if it would be useful to the music department. I'd say it's exactly what the OP wants.

Malcolm Gordon
Is this large enough and easy to read? The school of which I am a governor is getting one for use by the percussion teacher and as an educational aid.
chatterbox
Most of the above solutions do not have the option to remotely notify the duty manager when the noise reaches the preset "too loud"...is there a system that can do this??? either by phone/mobile/pager/???? Albatross
Hi Chatterbox, Take a look at the Sound Ear range http://www.soundear.com/I've been keeping my eye on this system for a while, in the hopes of getting one for long term logging uses at our venue.
