Bazz339
I am trying to source the lavalier mics used by Trantec for their LM 259 mics which used to be supplied with their S2000 and S3500 series Radio. I know where to get replacement LM 259s but just want the bare mic and cable. Alternatively can anyone recommend a good inexpensive substitute of similar or better qualit for purely speech use. paulears
They've used a few over the years, but all extremely similar - and these are pretty close, and oddly, quite similar sounding. The early Trantec ones had slightly smaller grills, and were metal, these are a little bigger, and just need the plug chopping off and a LEMO sticking on.http://cpc.farnell.com/productimages/farnell/standard/CS20660-40.jpg ps and they're dirt cheap! Bazz339
That was an alternative I was looking at. are they metal or plastic bodied? Anyone used the JTS CM 501?
paulears
just pulled one apart, and cap is plastic, but tube could be metal - it's non-magnetic, but solid - so could be a light alloy or very tough plastic. Can't tell without scratching it.
