GaryNattrass
In the old days when I used proper analogue broadcast mixing consoles from Calrec, Neve and AMS there were two switches on most faders made by penny and giles! One was switched for PFL by pulling the fader back and the second was a fader start to either fire off carts or trigger effects or could also be used to mute studio speakers in radio config.A lot of modern consoles don't have this feature but even the AMS Neve linear induction motor faders we designed in the 90's allowed these functions to be done via software encoding!I really miss pull PFL on most of the modern Yamaha type consoles that are now prevalent in broadcast as being able to pre listen whilst mixing live can be a real life saver operationally
