Shez Posted June 4, 2013 Share Posted June 4, 2013 Surely thinner cable would help as it would add more resistance to the load?It would give the amp an easier ride but you'd be wasting more of its power output in heating the cable rather than making sound from the speaker. Jivemaster Posted June 4, 2013 Share Posted June 4, 2013 I remember a 50m speaker run that was changed from 1.0mm^2 to 2.5mm^2 with the result of a full set of blown tweeters. Simply the power that had been dissipated in the thin cable was available at the speaker to do damage. Fit cable and LISTEN. If it sounds horrid something is dying.
