Mains fed system just to heat it up with thermal safety cut off switch and heater block. Gravity fed so no pump, no timer and no remote. Nice and simple. The Optimist however did have slightly different insides as it was remote fed on either 5 or 6 core cable (can't remember which) and had to be permanently mains powered so you were restricted in it's use. ianknight Posted November 1, 2013 Share Posted November 1, 2013 The unit's I see have some electronics to show if the unit's heating or not and to trigger a relay from a remote to fire the solenoid fluid valve. The fluid flow and smoke valve are all manually triggered but the smoke valve is a two way valve with one output fed to the heater via the solenoid valve.
