Be a tad messy if it didn't though the sort of low temperatures that do create problems are rarely going to be encountered anywhere that dancefloor is stored. The advantage over cardboard is that plastic doesn't distort or soak up the damp. We had several rolls stored over winter in a container which was used indoors and out for over 12 years and AFIK is still in use somewhere.
