worldofdavep
I've read that the ring around scherzinger did nothing tonight and that it looked like a lighting failure. As I was busy changing my daughter during that part (joys of parenthood), can anyone shed light on this? (No pun intended)
Dave Hallett
In other (completely unrelated) news, you will be aware that switch mode power supplies have filtering capacitors, which can mimic the effect of a leakage to earth for a short time when initially plugged in. Therefore it would be prudent to ensure that your system is not all powered up at once (such as when plugging a ring of small laser heads in) if said system is supplied via a life protection RCD. It would also be prudent to rig / connect ones kit in rehearsals exactly as you will during the show so that there are not unexpected effects only discovered at show time. This particularly applies to a system where (due to requirements for an effective E-stop system) the whole rig has to connect via one rack. Back to the question: Pity about the Nicole thing - it looked rocking during rehearsals.
bigclive
Inrush current to a lot of small heads can be quite cummulative too. When you've got a load of power supply capacitors charging at once with no significant NTC style inrush limiting it can create enough current inrush to prevent a breaker being latched.
