Heat shrink and hot air guns

I started with the soldering iron, but having switched to a hot air gun would never go back. I think it's much harder to melt stuff that way, because you can turn the heat down well below the soldering iron bit temperature (and you don't leave little bits of solder on the outside of the sleeving!). I use a cheap CPC paint stripper mostly, which seems to be easiest to use sat pointing nearly vertically upwards (on my knee, leant against the bench) and then moving the cable around in front of it. Seems to solve the over-spill problem provided you don't get your head in it!
