BenEdwards
Just spotted this on ebayfor £25. Wondering if it would be good replacement for sDMXking USB dongle. Am I corect in thinking I plug it into local net and plug DMX cable in and its relativly easy to set up. Found a manual at http://artisticlicence.com/WebSiteMaster/User%20Guides/cata-lynx%20ip%20user%20guide.pdf and it mentiones a media server so is it not stand allone? niclights
It converts physical DMX input into Art-Net. Useful if you have a media server or visualisation application that needs Art-Net but a console that can only output physical DMX. If you're looking for a way to output physical DMX from a computer then this won't help.
BenEdwards
Thanks, was wondering. So Art Net is not to send DMX from a computer to DMX chain?
gyro_gearloose
Yes, Artnet can send many universes of DMX from your computer to your fixtures/dimmers/etc. This unit takes one universe of Artnet and gives you 6 DMX outputs.
timsabre
Just think of Artnet as a way to get a lot of separate DMX wires down a single cat5 cable. It doesn't necessarily start from a computer, a lot of consoles will output it.
