Junior8
Yesterday the CFT posted a picture of their lantern cleaning time. Look what takes centre stage! https://twitter.com/...890726989189121 Original equipment or at least some of it??
sguy42
Can't see any Patt 263s in the picture! I believe Chichester had an early batch where the bodies were folded steel rather than the later pressed ones. Looks like Source 4s at the back which put out about 8 times the usable light of a 263, for only just over half the power.
timmeh2
That's a lot of tungsten. Anyone care to calculate how much that costs them to run? 'A lot' immediately springs to mind.
alistermorton
Depends if they're all on at once - varying between "quite a lot" and "How much!!!"

J Pearce
There's plenty of modern 2k and even 5k lamps; the power consumption isn't necessarily linked to age. While LED might be supplanting general colour washing there's not a lot that can still offer the same flexibility of beam control whilst retaining the punch of a 2k or 5k fresnel; and what can is often out of the reach of producing and community venues. It's not that long ago we wouldn't be worrying about it  Of course the benefits of LED are more than just the cost of the electrickery. :)
