Another option could be something like this. It might give you enough clearance and make the mic easier to get on and off.

The one I mentioned is a bit thinner than the K&M one and works fine with 55s etc. Ours have 3/8" adapters on the end which make them a bit longer, but if you removed them and just used the American 5/8" threads, it's a bit more compact.

You do know that neither of the two standard mic stand threads are metric- right?

I simply got a link from one of my go-to sites as a suggestion towards a solution. I assumed that once OP had the idea he could spend the time searching as I don't need the product.

I could have also offered to sell a real 1950's microphone but then he would have needed to sourse an adapter.

Oh and by the way what are the 2 standard mic threads? I have at least 6 of them.
