paulears
I currently get my PLI cover from a source that have changed some of the wording to less well represent what I do, so when it expires in April, I'll need something a little more 'wide'. The one I have is tightening so it's more representative of the video work, leaving sound and lighting less covered. I'm no longer a Union member, so the BECTU cover isn't available. Any suggestions of cost effective suppliers would be good please.Paul
gareth
Are you an ALD member, Paul? They offer a combined liability insurance scheme to members. I've used it for the last few years.
pscandrett
Crewcover is one standard answer, which comes with PSA membership. I've been with them for some years now, and have been happy. The PSA membership is reassuring in times like this, and I've used their business support line a couple of times too. The policy is designed around the industry but a bit 'one size fits all'. If it's appropriate for you, great. https://www.crewcover.com/ HTH
MarkPAman
Mine runs out in a couple of weeks. Not sure that there’s any point in renewing or starting another just at the moment.I know it’s not that much money, but it’s probably more than I’m going to earn in the next few months. kerry davies
There is no necessity to be a PSA member to avail yourself of Crewcover insurances. Murray Torrible of this parish will almost certainly take your premiums and supply whatever level of cover you wish. One of the reasons behind Crewcover and the BECTU insurance was the plethora of policies available, none of which fitted the industry or the predominance in it of self-employed, SME and sole traders. You could still ask a broker to put your own bespoke package together though it will cost more.
paulears
Thanks for the choices guys - I'm not a member of anything very exciting any more - but I'll have a look at these. Cheers! It seems that to find out details of the PSA cover, you have to join first? To non-members there's no information. I don't really know much about the PSA. I found one quote direct with an insurance company that was £250, which makes me wince a bit when PSA, for example is only £102.
Stuart91
Mine runs out in a couple of weeks. Not sure that there’s any point in renewing or starting another just at the moment. Following on from that point, I wonder if there's any mileage in trying to claim a refund on PLI cover, for the period where no work is happening? My own insurers demand details on turnover and payroll before issuing a premium each year, and the actual figures for 2020 will fall well short of expectations. Their own risk has gone down significantly.
sunray
Cor... £102, £250, I dream... mine was up around 1K but more recently comes out around £600 but I work across a selection of genres the one that really seems to bump it up is 'control systems' heating, ventilation mostly but BMS is the catchall. The problem with that is I could concievably make a large building unusable or take out a server facility etc. due to lack of heat or cold.Oh well I won't be needing to renew it as an old fart. kerry davies
Sorry Paul, wasn't clear, try these; Production Services LIVE clients: 0117 244 5813 precision@live-insurance.co.uk; That is Precision Broking who can insure you outside the Crewcover scheme which is as you rightly say, a PSA members scheme. PSA membership is £102 but Crewcover insurance is on top of that so £250 is a low end quote anyway.

paulears
Chaps = I cleaned up the duplicated post content and assumed that would be that. I removed the posts talking about it. I also assumed that the posts vanishing would alert you all to the fact somebody had done the housekeeping and got rid of the snippy text. Clearly not. So that's another 4 posts removed. As I started the topic, and it keeps getting sidetracked. I will use my powers to close my own post because I don't believe one of you isn't likely to respond yet again. It IS possible not to respond, you know ................. Paul
